SUKKUR, July 13: Hundreds of houses in Bachal Shah colony near here have been threatened by overflow of the Khirthar and Rice canals on Monday night. The overflowing water has entered several houses due to which walls of two collapsed on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, 40 per cent water shortage was recorded last night in the Dadu Canal, 10 per cent in the Rice Canal and 20 per cent in the Khirthar Canal. One person was killed and eight others were injured when a Karachi-bound passenger coach overturned on the National Highway near Pano Aqil here on Sunday evening.

The man killed was identified as Ghulam Mustafa Jat. Mureed Hussain, Naveed, Faiz Mohammad, Bashiraan, Abdul Rehman, Khalid Mohammad, Khuda Bux and Abdul Majeed were injured in the accident.

Meanwhile, Mir Mohammad, Hakim Shah, Asma, Hakeem and Dilawar were injured when a Sukkur-bound wagon, coming from Rahim Yar Khan, was hit by a trailer from behind on the National Highway in the Korai village, near Pano Aqil.

The trailer driver escaped. The people injured in both accidents were admitted to Pano Aqil, Rohri and Sukkur hospitals. The condition of four injured persons was said to be critical.
