KARACHI, July 12: The Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) has identified dangerous buildings in Saddar Town and asked their occupants to move to safer places before some tragic incident amid the monsoon rains.

The buildings in dilapidated condition and declared dangerous are: Wadoo Mal Udhara Metrz Plots No 4: 40-WD-2,50-WO-2, 18-WO-7, 19-WO-7, Preedy Quarters Nos 2: 27-PR-2, 28/1-PR-2, Surai Quarters Nos 4: 11-SR-6, 15-SR-8, 14-SR-9, 111-SR-10, Saddar Bazar Quarters 15: 34-SB-6, 108/A-SB-7, 181-SB-7, 203-SB-7, 201-SB-7, 38-SB-7, 91-SB-7, 186-SB-7, 204-SB-7, 75-SB-7,10-SB-7, 21-SB-5, 17-SB-7, 40-SB-7, 48-SB-7, Rambagh Quarters 16: 20-RB-10, 20-RB-3, 26-B-RB-5, 52-RB-7, 23-RB-5, 6-B-RB-5 (P.K. Shahani Building), 4-RB-8 (Dost Manzil) and 73-RB-6, 8/1-RB-3.

According to Saddar Town Nazim Farooq Memon Faria, notices had been issued to the residents concerned for the vacation of these buildings and shifting to safe places in view of the monsoon to avoid any tragedy.

In reply to a question, the nazim pointed out that encroachment appeared one of the biggest problems in the town, particularly at shopping centres and market places. However, he added, allout efforts were being made for their removal despite all odds.

He recalled that illegal structures at Empress Market roundabout, Preedy Street, Regal bus stop, Burns Road and M. A. Jinnah Road, Tibet Centre, Jamia Cloth Market, Aram Bagh Market, Boulton Market, Merewether Tower, Kharadar, Mithadar, Khajoor Bazar, Khori Garden and Chand Bibi Road were removed in a recent drive.
