SHEIKHUPURA, July 5: Hundreds of villagers led by the MPA besieged the Central City Hospital and later B-Division police station to protest against the alleged rape and abduction of a patient here on Monday.

As per reports, victim patient 'Z' along with her mother-in-law Sabina Bibi came to hospital to see a gynaecologist. The para-medical staffer, Irshad Bibi, took them to a room and served them cold drinks. She served Sabina Bibi the intoxicated drink, who fell unconscious after taking it.

Meanwhile, para-medical staff - Irshad Bibi, Farhat Bibi and Sumera Bibi invited an unidentified vagabond into the room, who raped the patient and later abducted her. When Sabina Bibi came to her senses after several hours she asked the whereabouts of her daughter-in-law. But the para-medical staff showed their unawareness.

At this, she informed her family members about the incident by telephone, who were the residents of Pucca Nazir in the limits of Mandi Faizabad police station. After a few hours, about 200 villagers led by MPA Javed Manzoor Gill came to the Central City Hospital by wagons.

Finding no clue to the woman patient, the protesters surrounded the hospital and chanted slogans against the administration. Later, they rushed to the B-Division police station and also besieged it.

DPO Nawaz Warraich called the protesters in his office and directed the police to register a case against Irshad Bibi, Sumera Bibi, Farhat Bibi and the abductor. The DPO also directed the police to recover the abducted patient and arrest the kidnapper-cum-rapist immediately.

Owners of the hospital, Dr Talat Qaiser Bhatti and her husband Qaisar Zulfiqar Bhatti, expressed their ignorance about the incident and refused to own the responsibility.

Expressing his concern over the incident, MPA Javed Manzoor Gill condemned the incident. He said that if the accused was not arrested and the abducted patient recovered till Tuesday (today), they would ask the chief minister and governor to take stock of the situation. However, the DPO assured the MPA that all out efforts would be taken to recover the victim and the arrest of kidnapper.
