QUETTA, June 30: Anti-Narcotics Force teams has seized around 1.4 tons of drugs from the Chagai area of Balochistan, official sources said here on Wednesday.

Among the drugs were morphine and hashish brought from Afghanistan for smuggling onward to European countries and Gulf states.

"We have seized 925 kgs of morphine and 505 kgs hashish in two different raids," a senior ANF officer said. ANF troops in the Shabian area of Dalbandin close to the Afghan border on Tuesday launched a combing operation and succeeded in recovering 925 kgs of fine quality morphine.

"The morphine was found dumped under stones in the mountains," ANF officer said, adding that the drug consignment was smuggled into the Pakistan area from Helmand province of Afghanistan. However, no person could be arrested in connection with this seizure as the armed men guarding the drugs crossed over into Afghan without offering any resistance.

In the second raid on Monday last in the Koh-i-Dalilal area of Dalbandin district, 505 kgs of hashish was found dumped there for smuggling to other countries through the Makran coast. The value of the seized drugs was estimated at several million dollars, an ANF officer said.
