Squash Complex ready

ISLAMABAD, June 29: With the inauguration on Tuesday of the Mushaf Squash Complex, officials said Pakistan were now ready to host the World Junior Championship this August.

In a low-key ceremony, President of the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF), Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat inaugurated the complex, built at a cost of Rs 50.1 million in a record time of one year.

Named after the late president of PSF, Air Chief Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir, the venue has a four side glass wall centre court and four combi courts imported from Germany with a seating capacity for 1200 spectators.

In order to host the World Junior Championship, Pakistan needed to have a minimum of nine courts. It was with this in mind that late Mushaf decided to create a state of the art facility in January 2003.

The proposal was sanctioned by Kaleem Saadat in June last year. With the complex's completion, Pakistan will now have enough courts as the adjacent Roshan Khan Complex will also be utilised for the World Junior Championship.
