SAHIWAL, June 23: Three people were killed and five others sustained injuries in different road accidents here on Wednesday. A pick-up (NLC-281) hit a motorcyclist on Chichawatni-Burewala Road near Chak 164/9-L. As a result, Noor Ahmed and his pillion rider died on the spot.

On Sahiwal by-pass, a bus (LOK-4386) crashed into a rickshaw (LXK-4032). Fazal died on the spot while Nazir, Sarwar Rehmani, Tariq, Amjad Shah and Sajida received serious injuries. They were admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.

Meanwhile, two injured in earlier accidents, died in a local hospital on Wednesday. They were identified as Anwaar and Salahuddin. Police have registered separate cases.

LOOTED: Armed bandits injured a man on resistance and looted valuables worth over Rs200,000 in separate incidents here late on Tuesday night. On Sahiwal-Arifwala Road, a trader carrying poultry birds to Lahore by his vehicle, was stopped at gunpoint by robbers. They snatched from him Rs140,000 and also drove away with the vehicle.

At Shireenwala Morr on Sahiwal-Arifwala Road, car riders snatched Rs80,000 from a trader at pistol point and fled while firing in the air. Unidentified robbers injured on resistance Allah Yar, an employee of advocate Bahawal Sher, near Chak 100/9-L. The robbers attempted to snatch the motorcycle. He was admitted to hospital. Police have registered separate cases with no arrest.
