DADU, June 22: The anti-corruption establishment, Dadu, on Monday completed its inquiry against 26 officials of the DPO office who were booked under corruption charges. An amount of Rs1.9 million was reportedly embezzled under the head of extra payment in the kutcha allowance and POL.

ACE circle officer, inspector Ayaz Pandhiani and special inquiry officer Akbar Habibani sent the report to the ACE Sindh chairman against the officials. They include ex-accountant Hassan Chandio, head clerk Ziauddin Siddiqui, senior clerk Ahmed Ali Bhatti, junior clerks Ali Hassan Channo, Hajan Solangi, Aftab Chandio, Aijaz Memon, Hussain Panhwar, Asad Chandio, Juman Rahopoto and others.

Sources said that inquiries against the former head clerk, Sultan Abro and accountant Haroon Surhio were in progress. The accused were nominated in the FIR registered in 2000 with the anti-corruption police.

DPO Javed Odho said accountant Haroon Surhio was transferred on his directive. He said that the inquiry would also be initiated against the accountant branch of the DPO office.

He said that if officials were found guilty, stern action would be taken against them. Head clerk Ziauddin Siddiqui said that he was not involved in the corruption but the ACE had nominated him in the FIR.

He said that the ACE chairman had issued a notice to inquiry officer for implicating him in the case.Former accountant Hassan Chandio said that he was nominated in the FIR by the former DPO due to some personal reason.

FACILITIES URGED: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has directed Auqaf department officials to provide facilities to devotees of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz.

He gave the directive while talking to journalists in Sehwan on Sunday after visiting the shrine of Lal Shahbaz where he was given a briefing on the ongoing development work at the shrine.

The chief minister reiterated that judicious distribution of water would be ensured and tail-end growers would be provided with their share of water. Later, Dr Rahim held a meeting with District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar, MPAs and government officials at the irrigation rest house.

The nazim briefed the chief minister about development works being carried out in the district. Among others, Auqaf secretary Qabool Ahmad Shaikh and MPAs Dr Manzoor Leghari, Sadaqat Jatoi and Ahsan Jatoi attended the meeting.
