DADU, June 17: Residents of the Ghari village held protest demonstrations outside the Degree College and the taluka hospital and at the Ghanta Ghar Chowk in Mehar on Thursday.

They were protesting against the death of a man, Ali Gul, 25, who had been injured by armed men three days back and died at the Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, on Wednesday.

The protesters blocked the Indus Highway for five hours by placing the body of Ali Gul Junejo on it, demanding arrest of the killers. Led by the deceased's relatives, Powel Junejo and others, they also burnt tyres on different roads of the town.

Speaking on the occasion, Powel Junejo said nine armed men had injured Ali Gul and his four family members in a dispute over water rotation. He said the body was brought to the Mehar Taluka Hospital for autopsy but the doctor concerned did not turn up till Thursday morning.

He said due to negligence of the doctor, the body was lying outside the hospital's emergency ward for five hours. He said the Mehar police had registered an FIR against nine persons, including Ghulam Sarwar Halo, Mehboob, Abdul Latif, Anwar, Mukhtiar, Noorullah, Maqbool and Sikandar Halo.

He alleged that police were not arresting the nominated persons as they had received bribe. He threatened that the villagers would continue their protest till the arrest of the killers.

Meanwhile, the SP, investigation Dadu, Tipu Sultan, said three of the accused, Ghulam Sarwar, Maqbool and Sikandar Halo, had been arrested and raids were being conducted to arrest the others.
