KARACHI, June 7: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has constituted a three-member committee for distribution of Rs13 million among widows, handicapped and needy people. This decision was taken in a meeting, presided over by City Nazim on Monday.

Among others, the meeting was attended by DCO Mir Hussain Ali, Sindh Baitul Maal head Col Sarfaraz A. Siddiqui, EDO Community Development Committee Iqbal Zubaidi, Community Development chairman Qazi Sadruddin, Town Nazims and other officials.

The meeting reviewed the process of registration of deserving people and other affairs pertaining to distribution of funds under Sindh Baitul Maal programme of Food Support Programme. City Nazim directed to initiate the registration of needy people in order to distribute the funds immediately.

PRICE CONTROL: General-price Controller Mir Hussain Ali, who is also DCO Karachi, constituted a committee on Monday under supervision of EDO Enterprise and Investment Promotion to fix daily prices of vegetables and fruits.

The committee will survey the market daily, issue a price list and take measures for its implementation while EDO (E&IP) will take measures to ensure these prices by issuing lists daily.

These prices would be applicable on consumers, retailers, whole sellers and bachat bazaars. City councillor Abdur Rasheed Baig, Chairman consumers council Kokab Iqbal, Zahid Dawood Pota and DDO Revenue Gadap will be the committee members. The committee will also present weekly fluctuation report of price to the general-price controller.

HINO FLYOVER'S: The city government has started preparations for the construction of a three-tier flyover at Hino Chowrangi. This would be the first three-tier flyover in country's history.

In this regard, tenders have already been floated on June 1 and would be opened on June 30. The work on the project is expected to start in the first week of July at a cost of Rs450 million.

DCO Mir Hussain Ali visited the Hino Chowrangi on Monday and inspected those roads and passages where flyover will be constructed. The purpose of visit was to have an appraisal about project details so that liaison could be strengthened between the organizations concerned, city government and sponsoring agencies of KPT, DHA and the NESPAK associated with the construction of flyover.

The DCO was briefed about the project details at the site with the help of charts and plans. He was informed that the proposed flyover would reduce traffic pressure on five different roads. EDO Works and Services Shoaib Siddiqui and other concerned officers were present on the occasion. -PPI/APP
