SIALKOT, May 18: Nazims of two union councils were removed when no-confidence motions against them were adopted. According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, 12 of 19 councillors voted out union council Ban Bajwa Nazim Master Abdul Sattar.

In union council Masroor, Shakargarh, 16 of 20 councillors unseated Nazim Chaudhry Tariq Manzoor.

TEHSIL COUNCIL: The Sialkot tehsil council on Tuesday unanimously approved 212 development schemes worth Rs66.5 million for the city. The council session was presided over by convener Chaudhry Mahmood Ali Warraich.

Besides, the council earmarked Rs3.5 million for sewerage schemes in Adalatgarh and Talwar Mughlan union councils and Rs 15 million for repair and reconstruction of city roads.

Smuggling Bid: The Head Marala police foiled a bid to smuggle wheat from Sialkot to the NWFP near Dhalleywali village on Monday night. Police seized three truckloads of wheat and arrested drivers Tahir, Nazir and Shaukat.

Police have registered a case against them. Meanwhile, the Sialkot district food controller raided various private godowns in Sialkot, Daska, Qila Kallarwala, Baddo Malhi and Shakargarh and recovered 8,600 bags of wheat worth Rs20 million stored there illegally.
