DADU, May 13: The Gorakh hill station on the Khirthar mountains will be linked with adjoining areas through a road network to provide facilities to domestic and foreign tourists.
This was stated by Sindh minister for works and services, Arbab Ghulam Rahim here on Wednesday night after holding a meeting with officials, Nazims and MPAs of Dadu. Provincial adviser Majeed Jamali, secretary works and services Ashfaque Memon and MPA Dr Manzoor Leghari were also present on the occasion.
He said that Rs33 million had been allocated for the repair of Dadu-Moro road and work would be completed by Dec 2005. He said that work on the Faridabad-Charo road was in progress and would be completed by Dec 2004.
He said that 80 per cent work on Thariri Jado Shaheed to Gaj Bungalow had been completed. Replying to queries of journalists, he ruled out rumours about in house change in the Sindh government and said Ali Mohammad Mahar would continue as the chief minister.
He said that if the party decided any assignment for him he would accept it. He said that the Sindh government had demanded 50 per cent share in the NFC award and the federal government agreed to give 47 per cent share to provinces.
SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead in Ramzan Jhatial village Mehar taluka on Wednesday night. Siddiqu Magsi, 40, was killed by five persons while his brother Gulzar was injured. The cause behind the incident was said to an old enmity.
HEPATITIS CASES: DCO Allamuddin Bullo has said that a large number of fishermen of Manchhar Lake have been infected with hepatitis-B because of consumption of contaminated water.
Talking to newsmen here the other day, Mr Bullo said he had directed the EDO, health, Dr Moula Bux Jamali, to provide medicine to hepatitis-B patients in the Manchhar area and Rs2.5 million had been released from the Zakat fund to the district health department for the purpose.
He said the Taluka Municipal Administration of Sehwan was providing sweet water through two tankers to the villagers of Manchhar. He informed the newsmen that the Pakistan Army had also started supervision of the Manchhar Lake and an army team had visited the lake recently.
The DCO said that saline water from the MNV drain would be stopped once RBOD was constructed and this saline water of Balochistan and the northern parts of Sindh would be diverted to the sea. In the next budget, he said, the zila government would be allocated funds for financial assistance of the fishermen of Manchhar.
