SAHIWAL, April 30: An ASI was reportedly kidnapped from the Police Lines canteen by three people, including a woman, here on Friday. ASI Sarfraz was about to leave his quarter for his duty when he received a telephone call.

The caller, reportedly introduced himself as his friend, told the ASI that he wanted to meet him in the Police Lines canteen. As the ASI reached the canteen, the accused bundled him into a car and disappeared.

Kishwar, the wife of the kidnapped ASI, suspected that her husband would be murdered. She urged the high-ups to recover her husband immediately. Civil Lines police have registered a case under Section 364 PPC.

GOLD MEDAL: Provincial Revenue Minister Gul Hamid Khan Rokhri gave away the Quaid-i-Azam gold medal award to Government College for Boys' principal Prof Shoaib Sipra here on Friday.

The ceremony was also attended by former Supreme Court chief justice Dr Naseem Hasan Shah and provincial Zakat and Ushr Minister Mian Khadim Husain Wattoo.

LOOTED: Unidentified armed bandits took away machinery worth Rs0.86 million in two strikes here on Thursday night. Three armed bandits entered the factory of Muhammad Akram in Chak 102/12-L, held the watchman and locked him in a room.

Later, they loaded the machinery in a truck and fled. Three armed dacoits, including a woman, entered the clinic of Dr Adeela at Gambar and took away the ultrasound machine.
