JHANG: Election symbols allotted

JHANG, April 21: The returning officer on Wednesday allotted symbols to the candidates contesting byelection to NA-89, scheduled to be held on May 12. The seat had fallen vacant after the murder of Maulana Azam Tariq last year.

The names of contestants and their election symbols are Syed Asad Hayat (crescent), Shaikh Waqas Akram (umbrella), Maulana Alam Tariq (hockey), Hasan Mohiuddin Qadri (truck), Shaikh Mohammad Yaqoob (crown), Abdul Qadoos Awan (eagle), Shaikh Babar Aslam (camel), Shahzad Safdar (wrench), Munir Ahmad Shahid (car), Abdul Ghafoor Jhangvi (egg), Shaikh Hakim Ali (star), Abdul Basit (peacock), Farooq Anwar (pen), Siddique Naul (bull cart), Dr Abul Hasan (tower), Sanaullah Yousaf (aeroplane) and Mohammad Ahmad Ludhianvi (fan).
