KARACHI, April 20: The Commander Army Air Defence Corps, Lt-Gen Khateer Hasan Khan, has asked the troops to train hard during peacetime to maintain high standards of combat efficiency.

He stated this after witnessing firing practice of the Anza missile and medium-range air defence guns here on Tuesday. He said there was no short-cut to success as it came through hard work and sound character.

The firing demonstration was also witnessed by Maj-Gen Syed Akhtar Ali, Vice Chief of General Staff, and Maj-Gen Ashraf Saleem, General Officer Commanding Air Defence Division, with a large number of senior officers.

Lt-Gen Khateer Hasan Khan also witnessed recruits passing out parade at the Army Air Defence Centre. He took salute and distributed prizes to recruits showing outstanding performance.

The Army Air Defence Centre was founded in 1989 and it was the 22nd batch of recruits passing out on Tuesday to serve the country. Recruit Zahid Abbas secured first position in physical fitness, Arif Shah was declared the best firer, Waqar Hyder bagged the prize for best drill whereas Mohammad Naved was adjudged as the overall "best recruit". The parade was well-attended by relatives of the passing-out recruits. - PPI
