SAHIWAL, April 12: The local PML-Q vice-president beat a retreat from court after the cancellation of his pre-arrest bail in the presence of the police on Monday. Pir Ajam Shah Khagga had shot dead labourer Aslam Mather in Chak 87/6-R. Farid Town police had registered a murder case against Khagga and his gunman.

However, the police did not arrest the PML-Q leader, providing him an opportunity to manage a pre-arrest bail. On Monday, his bail was cancelled by an additional district and sessions judge, but the police could not 'arrest' him this time as well.

CONDEMNED PRISONERS: Three condemned prisoners will be led to the gallows in the Central Jail on Tuesday morning (today). Zaman Shah had killed Sabir Shah over a marriage issue on Oct 30, 1994. The Okara district & sessions judge had awarded him death sentence on Nov 26, 1995.

The high court had also upheld the decision of the lower court on May 2, 2001. The apex court and the president had also rejected his clemency appeals on April 22, 2002, and Oct 14, 2003, respectively.

Dossa and Nasir had killed two brothers Imam Ali and Muhammad Ali due to an old enmity on Sept 27, 1990. A local court had handed them down death penalty on Feb 2, 1992, which was also upheld by the high court on Feb 13, 1998. The apex court and president had also rejected mercy appeals on May 30, 2002, and Sept 26, 2003, respectively.
