KARACHI, May 19: Ten vehicles — six cars and four motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, the police said.

Three cars were hijacked. Three others were stolen. One motorcycle was hijacked. Three others were stolen.

The police also claimed on Sunday to have recovered four cars and two motorcycles in the city.

An official of the Air Weapon Complex, Ministry of Defence, was deprived of his car by three armed youths in North Nazimabad on Saturday night.

Shams Iqbal, an official of the Air Weapon Complex, was about to sit in his car (U-6706) after having a stroll in a park in Block-J in North Nazimabad, when three armed youths held him hostage at gunpoint. As his wife was accompanying him he told the armed youths to take the car, but they insisted that he should accompany them, leaving his wife behind.

He went to Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan police station to lodge an FIR, where he allegedly found the police indifferent. However, the police registered an entry about the hijacked car.
