KARACHI, March 30: Three persons died in separate road accidents in the city on Tuesday. Siraj Bibi, 30, was killed in a hit and run accident when she was crossing Sharea Faisal near Star Gate, police said.

The injured was rushed to the JPMC where she died during treatment, hospital sources said. A motorcyclist died and his pillion rider suffered injuries when a speeding truck knocked them down in Manghopir late Monday night.

Mukhtar Usman, 40, died on the spot while Rafiq sustained injuries in the accident. The errant truck driver escaped from the spot, police said. In Korangi, a young motorcyclist Liaquat, 30, died while his friend sustained injuries when a speeding truck hit them near Bilal Chowrangi. Police arrested the truck driver and impounded the vehicle.

FALLS TO DEATH: A labourer died after falling from an under-construction house in Sachal police limits. Shahbaz, 22, was working on the roof of a house when he lost his balance and fell. He was taken to a nearby private hospital where he was pronounced dead.

KILLED: Unknown persons killed the caretaker of a cattle-pen in Mawach Goth on Tuesday. Police said Jamshed, 23, was axed to death by unknown men while he was asleep in Gulshan-i-Ghazi, Bismillah Chowk.

On Tuesday morning, victim's body was found in a pool of blood. The body was shifted to JPMC for postmortem examination. As none of the valuables were missing, the police suspected some personal enmity as a possible motive behind the killing.

ROBBED: Robbers swept a house and made off with valuables and foreign currency in Korangi in the early hours of Tuesday. Police said three armed men barged into a house in Korangi No 4 and made away with Rs 300,000 local currency, 3,000 US dollars and gold ornaments worth millions of rupees.
