GUJRAT, March 25: Lawyers on Thursday observed a complete strike and boycotted courts against the indifferent attitude of the authorities concerned for not suspending the Gujrat DPO despite a requisition and their repeated strikes.

Suspension from service of DPO Raja Munawar Hussain is a longstanding demand of the Gujrat Bar Association lawyers. They had passed the requisition against the DPO some months ago for his misconduct with a senior bar member, Chaudhry Gulraiz Warraich. Later, they also took out a protest rally against the DPO, demanding his suspension, but no action has so far been taken against him.

INJURED: Three family members were injured on resistance by bandits during a dacoity attempt in Lalazar Colony here on Wednesday night.

Seven armed bandits entered the house of Liaquat, held the inmates hostage and demanded cash from them. They tortured severely to Liaquat for putting up resistance.

When Shaukat tried to rescue his brother, they also injured him with an axe. They shot at and injured their nephew Nadeem as well for raising an alarm and then escaped without booty.

The injured were admitted to the DHQ Hospital where Nadeem and Liaquat were stated to be in critical condition. Civil Lines police are going into the matter.
