HARIPUR, May 18: Responding to the request of district Nazim of Haripur, the NWFP government has declared certain areas of Haripur as calamity-hit for a period of one year commencing from July 1, 2001, official sources told Dawn here.

A notification to this effect was issued by the provincial government the other day. Earlier, according to official sources, three districts and certain Tehsils of the province were also declared as calamity-hit areas, excluding Haripur.

But following the hectic efforts of the district government of Haripur, the provincial authorities agreed to include certain revenue circles of the district in the list of the affected areas.

District Nazim Raja Amer Zaman had earlier also held meetings with the provincial governor and other concerned authorities in this connection.
