KARACHI, March 24: Police said that unknown assailants gunned down a 22-year-old man and dumped his body in a garbage container in Saeedabad after burning it. They said they found the charred body in a bag, adding that the victim had been shot at in the head and in the chest.

ACCIDENT: A fast-moving train run over a 35-year-old man on Wednesday as he tried to cross the railway near Drigh Road.

WOUNDED: The police said that unknown gunmen on Wednesday opened fire on a 45-year-old lawyer, Khalid Kayani, in front of his house in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Block 13-D-2.

The wounded man was taken to the Liaquat National Hospital, said the police, adding that they had registered a case against five offenders.

ROBBERIES: Two robbers in police uniform frisked a 45-year-old man, Mohammad Niaz, aboard a Peshawar-bound bus near a terminus on Super Highway. They took away Rs105,000 from him. The Sachal police registered a case.

In another case, Sohail Ahmad, who had drawn $5,000 from a bank in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, was on Wednesday robbed of the amount by three armed men near the Gulshan bridge. The Jauharabad police registered a case.
