Musharraf praises Tendulkar

ISLAMABAD, March 17: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday greeted star Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar for having crossed the 13000-run mark in one-day Internationals. Musharraf, who is also patron of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) , had invited both the Pakistan and Indian teams to tea, praised Tendulkar for having done so well and wished the tourists a memorable stay.

Tendulkar smashed 141 runs in Tuesday's second ODI in Rawalpindi but could not prevent Pakistan scoring a 12-run victory. He also went past the 13000 milestone in that match, his 330th International.

"I am sure you all would be feeling comfortable in Pakistan," the president was quoted by an official of the Pakistan Cricket Board as saying. "The way Pakistani crowd has responded in the first two matches shows that they are sports lovers."

The president himself took time out on Tuesday to be at the Rawalpindi Stadium to briefly witness the match. Musharraf hoped that both sides would continue to play competitive cricket. "It does not matter who wins but keep playing with the same spirit that you have shown in the first two matches," he told both teams.
