MULTAN, March 16: Various political and labour organizations have condemned the alleged atrocities against tenants on state-managed agricultural and livestock farms.

A joint meeting of the Anjuman Mazareen Punjab, Pakistan Seraiki Party, Pakistan Oppressed Nations' Movement, Communist Party of Pakistan, Communist Mazdoor Kissan Party and the Labour Party Pakistan was held here on Tuesday to discuss the state of affairs on a military dairy farm of Multan where a few days ago the administration reportedly beat up local AMP leader Habib Ahmed and two women, one of whom was his daughter.

The meeting observed that instead of giving tenants ownership of land they had been cultivating for nearly a century, the Pakistan Army and government departments like the Punjab Seed Corporation were suppressing tenants' movement through coercion.

Participants in the meeting warned the local police authorities of a protest drive if a criminal case was not registered within four days against the dairy farm officials who beat up the tenant and his family to dislodge them from land they had been living through generations.

Prominent among the participants were Mehr Abdul Sattar, Ghani Javed, Habib Ahmed and Mumtaz Ahmed of the AMP, and Mansoor Karim Siyal of the PSP.
