KARACHI, March 10: The State Bank has instructed all banks and development finance institutions to obtain a written undertaking from all depositors and borrowers that they will submit a copy of the computerized national identity card (CNIC) immediately on receipt from Nadra.

The undertaking should be accompanied by a receipt from Nadra, confirming that they have applied for the CNIC. The SBP letter reminded all banks/DFIs that the National Database & Registration Authority has declared old national identity cards invalid from Jan 31, 2004.
