MMA leader rejects ARD allegations

RAWALPINDI, March 10: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has rejected the ARD allegations terming them baseless. Talking to Dawn, the MMA Punjab president, Hafiz Mohammad Idrees, said the whole nation knew it well as to who was indulging in politics of interests and who was sticking to the principles.

He said the alliance was the "genuine" opposition in the parliament. He further said the ARD and Gen Musharraf had the same policies whereas the alliance was opposed to them.

The MMA leader said the alliance was planning to launch a people-contact campaign from next month to raise awareness among the general public about the negative aspects of the policies being pursued by the government.

He said life was becoming difficult for the common man due to the escalating prices and worsening law and order situation. The rulers instead of finding solutions to such problems are busy strengthening their power base, he regretted.
