SAHIWAL: Lawyers observe strike

SAHIWAL, Feb 27: Lawyers of the local bar association observed a strike against the murder of two senior advocates during dacoity bids here on Thursday night. The protesting lawyers vowed to continue their protest till the arrest of the killers.

Six bandits barged into the house of senior advocate Rashid Anwar in Y Block, Farid Town. They held the couple hostage and killed the advocate and injured his wife Naseem seriously for offering resistance.

Unidentified men killed another senior advocate Rana Sultan Alam when he opened the door of his house after they rang the bell. Police have yet to find any clue to the killers. The matter is being taken up by the Punjab Bar Council to observe strike at the provincial level.

LOOTED: Armed bandits looted cash, ornaments, valuables and took away two motorcycles and a taxi cab in five strikes in different parts of the district on Thursday night. Four armed bandits entered the house of Abdul Waheed and looted valuables worth Rs0.5 million. They also took away his motorcycle.

In small industrial estate, two armed robbers snatched motorcycle (SIM-1434) from Shahid Mahmood and a taxi cab (SLH-5365) from driver Allah Ditta. Unidentified dacoits looted ornaments valuing Rs185,000 from the house of Majeedan in Housing Colony, Chichawatni.

Armed bandits entered the house of Manzooran in Shadman Colony, collected Rs119,540 in cash and decamped with the booty. Police have registered separate cases.
