KARACHI: Car jackers gang busted

KARACHI, Feb 26: Gulshan-i-Iqbal police busted a gang of carjackers and recovered five stolen vehicles, along with fake registration plates and tempering equipment, from them.

Speaking at a press conference at his officer, town police officer, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, said that initially two suspects, Mohammad Sarwar and Abdul Majid, were nabbed near the Petal hospital in Gulshan, along with a stolen car (AA-8584).

During the interrogation, the suspects revealed the whereabouts of their two other accomplices, Mohammad Fahim and Mohammad Saleem, who were subsequently picked up by the police.

The police also recovered stolen vehicles- CK-4383, GA-8545, CJ-9648 and CJ-6907. Apart from the vehicles, the police also recovered fake registration plates and registration books, which were made in Peshawar (Derra) and brought into the city through a private courier service, the police pointed out.

Mr Shaikh said that the suspects had been arrested by the police before and were on bail.
