KARACHI, Feb 23: Chief Minister Ali Muhammad Mahar has urged police personnel to work hard for improving the image of the department. "Although the most effective tool against crime and anti-social elements , the police department is not considered a 'people-friendly' one in our country," he observed while speaking at the passing out parade of the 16th Police Commandos at the Anti-terrorist Training Centre, Razaqabad, in Malir on Monday.

Mr Mahar said that responsibilities given by people to the government would be fulfilled at all costs and it was duty of police to safeguard the life and property of citizens and provide an environment free of crime and terrorism.

He pointed out that the entire world, particularly Pakistan, was facing the threat of terrorism. He stressed the need for the revival of national spirit and acquiring of modern and scientific capabilities to face the challenge.

The CM assured the jawans that the government was trying its best to solve problems faced by police so that they could perform their duties with dedication. - PPI
