KARACHI, Feb 19: In an effort to combat corruption in the anti-corruption cell, the chief secretary of Sindh has formed a committee which will be suggesting reform measures in the existing system of checks and balances.

The Chief Secretary, Dr Mutawakkil Kazi, told Dawn in his office on Thursday that some honest people from the civil society would be asked to play a role in banishing corruption from the system. "We have already done a lot of work in this regard," he said.

"We are trying to learn from the systems that are in force abroad. We are of the view that people who work for non-governmental organizations etc and who have no clash of interest should be inducted into the system."

A notification, explained Dr Kazi, was issued in this regard a few days ago according to which the chief secretary will be leading the initiative. The other members of the committee are: the chairman of the Enquiries and Anti-Corruption Establishment; the chairman of the chief minister's inspection team; the secretary (services); and, the secretary (general administration).
