KARACHI, Feb 18: Sindh Chief Secretary, Dr Mutawakkal Kazi said on Wednesday that government was fully aware and conscious about the problems of the common man.

It is keen to ensure that people are free from problems they face in health, education and social sectors and are provided maximum facilities, he said while talking to a delegation of social workers.

The delegation noted with appreciation the notice taken by Chief Secretary regarding sanitary conditions inside and outside hospitals and the directives issued by him in this regard.

They informed him about the problems being faced by patients at various CDGK-run hospitals because of non-availability of funds. They stated that certain medical superintendents were getting bedsheets laundered on their own or on credit basis and this situation could have an adverse affect on hygienic conditions of the hospital.

The Chief Secretary, assured that a report would be called from the concerned department as to the non-availability of funds and they would be directed to ensure timely provision of funds to hospitals in Karachi and elsewhere in the province so that patients may not suffer any problem with regard to healthcare.

He advised the social organisations to realise their responsibilities in the backdrop of their patriotism and take steps if any problems in the health and education sectors comes to their notice.

He told them to also work on self-help basis for creating awareness among the people in rural and urban areas that great advantages can be taken if hygienic conditions are practically adopted.
