RAJANPUR: Rangers under fresh attack

Published February 10, 2004

RAJANPUR, Feb 9: Another Rangers' vehicle patrolling along the main gas pipeline in Shahwali was damaged by a landmine blast which left three personnel injured.

It was the second such incident in 24 hours. In the earlier blast on Sunday evening, two rangers' men were injured whereas the vehicle was badly damaged. Monday's blast site is hardly 2km away Sunday's scene.

The injured personnel, identified as deputy superintendent Malik Tahir, soldier Muhammad Sakhi and driver Muhammad Sajid, were rushed to Guddu in Sindh. The double-cabin official vehicle was also damaged.

Till the filing of this report on Sunday night, senior rangers' and Dera range police officials were in a meeting, discussing ways to check the menace of landmines and possible threat to the gas installations which were attacked twice last year allegedly by Bugti outlaws.
