KHAIRPUR, Jan 25: District Nazim Nafisa Shah inaugurated Taleemi Mela organized by the Indus Resource Centre at the Government Naz Pilot High School here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, she said the one-day festival would create awareness among students, improve their speech ability and promote co-curricular activities.

She regretted the district education department had shown no interest in the event. Rubab Waseem, Samina Malik and Kulsoom Dasti in debate competition and Aashiq Mangi, Shoaib Channa and Batoon Zehra in painting competition won first, second and third prizes, respectively. The schoolchildren held a tableau about the performance of teachers and state of schools in rural areas.
