RAWALPINDI, Jan 23: The Cantonment General Hospital (CGH) is planning to set up a dental prosthetic laboratory and a burn centre on its premises.

The CGH medical superintendent, Baig Ali Naz, told Dawn that the laboratory would be funded by the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB).

The medical superintendent said apart from tests and treatment, the laboratory would also prepare artificial teeth, jaws and crowns. At present, the hospital has a dental section but no laboratory, he added.

Similarly, Mr Naz said, a burn centre would also be established in the hospital. Funds for the centre will be arranged from the donor agencies and philanthropists, he added.

He said poor patients would be provided free-of-cost treatment, whereas others would be charged nominal fees. Mr Naz said the hospital had also hired a plastic surgeon, Dr Nadeem Pasha. The surgeon will work on honorary basis in the CGH till the establishment of the burn unit, he added.
