ISLAMABAD Jan 18: The chairman of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and secretary general Motamar Alami Islami Raja Mohammad Zafarul Haq has said that Gen Pervez Musharraf has failed to fulfil all the promises that he had made to the nation from time to time.

In his reaction to Gen Musharraf's address to the joint sitting of parliament on Sunday he said, contrary to his opinions about Allama Mohammad Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam, his policies were bereft of the ideals of Iqbal's role model of 'Shaheen' and Quaid's constitutionality, love for democracy and bravery.

Against this backdrop, Raja Zafarul Haq said the popular leaders like Nawaz Sharif were not being allowed to return home, Javed Hashmi, Abid Sher Ali, Mian Abdul Mannan and other national leaders were put behind the bars on fake allegations and the National Accountability Bureau was being utilised for achieving malefide political objectives and to punish opponents. All this, he said, was done as the head of the collective power of the armed forces which was hurting their image in the eyes of the people.
