OKARA: Advocate killed in car crash

OKARA, Jan 18: A senior advocate was killed while his wife and two others sustained serious injuries in an accident on Okara-Deepalpur Road here on Sunday.

Mian Ghulam Ahmad, his wife, driver and woman servant were going to Deepalpur from Okara by car when an oncoming speeding bus hit their vehicle. Consequently, Ghulam Ahmad died instantly while his wife and two other occupants of the car suffered serious injuries. They were shifted to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition. His funeral prayers will be offered on Monday (today) at 9am at his residence in Model Cooperative Housing Society.

DIES: The mother of local journalist Javaid Rahi died here on Sunday.A large number of people attended her funeral prayer. She was laid to rest at the Ghorey Shah graveyard. Qul will be held on Monday (today) at 9am at her residence in Mohallah Alipur.

ARRESTED: Satrah police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a drug pusher and recovered 2kg hashish and as much opium from his possession. Acting on a tip-off, a police team headed by SHO Nasrullah Bhatti raided a place on Okara-Jabooka road, some 15kms from here, and arrested Adnan Bashir while his brother Azmat managed to escape.
