KASUR, Jan 16: A policeman was injured in an encounter with dacoits in Daari Mian Zahid, Illahabad, here on Friday.

On a tip off, police conducted a raid for the arrest of cattle-lifters, but they fled leaving behind their vehicle carrying the cattle. When the police chased them, they opened fire injuring head-constable Mohammad Alam seriously.

The police returned the fire, but the dacoits managed to escape from the scene. The injured was taken to the local health centre from where he was shifted to the Lahore General Hospital.

RAPED: Two girls were raped in separate incidents in the district. A girl 'S' was raped allegedly by Nadeem and accomplice in Ladhey Key, Kasur Saddar. In another incident, Nazim Masih criminally assaulted a girl in her house in Kalarakabad, Raiwind Saddar.
