GILGIT, Jan 14: A banker was shot dead by a former security guard here on Wednesday, sources said. The sources said that Ashiq Hussain, operation manager of the United Bank Limited, Gilgit branch , was allegedly killed in front of the bank at the airport road by the former security guard, Shafaat, resident of Juglot, who was sacked from service in June last.
The sources said that the services of the guard were hired by the bank from a private security firm. But he thought that the bank manager had a role in his termination.
The accused was arrested by the Gilgit police along with the weapon, police sources said.
