LARKANA, Jan 14: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar has said 35,000 persons are being recruited in police, education and health departments.

Talking to journalists and later speaking at a reception hosted by Pakistan Muslim League (Q) leader Syed Pir Shah here on Wednesday, he said efforts were being made to eliminate unemployment in the province.

Responding to a question, Mr Mahar claimed that the government had overcome the wheat crisis. About the Khokhrapar route, he said Islamabad and New Delhi were discussing the possibility to open the route.

Referring to the poor law and order situation in Larkana, the chief minister said he had given 15 days to the police and if they failed to improve the situation, changes in the police department would become inevitable.

He said support would be sought from landlords in this regard. Mr Mahar and his cabinet members, Manzoor Panhwar and Irfan Gul Magsi, also went to Mirpur Bhutto where they met Sindh National Front chief Mumtaz Ali Bhutto.

They exchanged issues of mutual interest. Later, Mr Mahar went to Kambar and offered condolence to Shabir Ahmad Chandio on the demise ofAli Nawaz Chandio. He also attended a launch hosted by MPA Dr Hamida Khuhro.
