KARACHI, Jan 14: A police official was shot dead while resisting some armed men in North Karachi late Wednesday night. DIG Operations Tariq Jamil, confirming the incident , said Nasir Lodhi, 35, posted at Samanabad police station, was waiting for someone with his associate Qutubuddin in their car near Anda Mor, North Karachi, when some unknown persons snatched their cell phones.

As Nasir tried to take out his pistol, the armed men opened fire at them and escaped. Both policemen were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Nasir was pronounced dead and his associate was said to be in a critical condition.
