KARACHI, Jan 11: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has directed the officials concerned to take stern action against those found involved in food adulteration. He issued directives at the Civic Centre , while inspecting adulterated food items taken into custody by city government officials.

Briefing the Nazim on the occasion, DO Dr Capt Muhammad Laeeq Ahmad said a mill situated in Orangi Town was raided by a team of food inspectors who found that seeds of dates were being grinned there for making pan masala and mainpuri, which was very injurious to health.

He said four samples were obtained and sent to the city government food laboratory for analysis, and action would be taken after the report was received.

The Nazim asked the officials to accelerate the campaign against adulteration and form special raiding teams. He asked the councillors and town Nazims to pay attention to the problem in their respective areas and apprise the city government officials about the people involved in adulteration.-PPI
