KARACHI, Jan 7: The anti-car lifting cell during a snap- checking in Liaquatabad, foiled a kidnapping attempt and arrested the kidnapper on Wednesday.

According to the ACLC, the police were snap-checking vehicles near Gharibabad, when they signalled to stop a car (AEL-022). The occupants opened fire at the police and tried to flee. The ACLC officials returned fire.

The car stopped at some distance and two of three occupants tried to run away. The police arrested one of the kidnappers, Khushi Mohammad while his accomplice, Asif, managed to escape. A TT pistol was also recovered from his possession.

Inspector Ismail Lashari said that the robbers had kidnapped Danaish Kumar, a son of a businessman along with his car. The police recovered Mr Kumar and foiled the kidnapping bid.
