Published February 19, 2009

LARKANA, Feb 18: The Anti-corruption establishment (ACE) police on Tuesday arrested Taufeeque Ahmed Sadhayo, the former SHO of the Warisdino Mashi police station, after two years of the registration of a case against him.

The ACE personnel arrested the SHO, absconding since 2007, from the court building. They produced him in the court where Judge Qazi Amjad Ali Azeemi sent him to central prison Larkana, the circle officer said.

Basheer Ahmed Bhutto, a resident of Warsdino Machhhi village, filed a petition in the Sindh High Court’s circuit bench, Larkana, on June 19, 2007, saying that his brother Saeed Ahmed Bhutto and Muzaffar Hussain Bhutto had been injured in a clash and he lodged a complaint against some people with the Warisdino Machhhi police station.

According to petition, SHO Taufeeque instead of arresting the nominated persons in the case conducted a raid on the house of Basheer Bhutto and his brother Sikandar Bhutto. The SHO took away gold ornaments and Rs26,000 cash from the house.

The petitioner said the SHO also searched his shop and took away cloths worth Rs35,000 and arrested Wazeer Hussain Bhutto. He said the SHO kept Sikankar and Wazeer in illegal confinement and demanded Rs15,000 for their release. On refusal, he added, a case had been registered against Sikandar and Wazeer. The high court ordered an inquiry into the matter and placed it before the anti-corruption committee-II.—BoC
