Published February 9, 2009

KHAIRPUR, Feb 8: A boy and girl committed suicide by taking pesticide in Kot Chandko village of the kutcha area on Saturday night because of their parents’ refusal to allow them to get married.

Their relative Zameer Channa told this correspondent that Muzaffar Channa, 19, a matric student, and Najma Channa, 16, both relatives, wanted to get married but their parents did not agree because of some community problems. As a result, the couple become heart-broken and took pesticide, he said.

The relatives took the couple to Sobhodero rural health centre in a tractor trolley but they died before reaching there, Zameer said.

He said that Muzaffar was resident of Bhoombhatpur village and had come to Kot Chandko to attend a feast.—BoC
