DADU, Jan 6: A resolution was passed calling upon the government to announce Dadu taluka as calamity-hit area, waive agricultural taxes and defer loan recovery for at least two years.

Members Dadu Taluka Council unanimously passed the resolution on Tuesday.

The resolution was moved by Farooque Ahmed on the plea that recent rains had damaged all crops of taluka inflicting heavy losses to growers.

All members supported the resolution and demanded of the Sindh government to declare Taluka Dadu as calamity hit.

Another member, Anwar Mallah presenting a motion said that the manager of local Nadra office was misbehaving with people and was delaying preparation of national identity cards. The member demanded inquiry into the matter.

Sohrab Solangi in his motion demanded grant for Taluka Council members for carrying out development projects. Taluka Naib Nazim Najeebullah Panhwar said that Rs600,000 were allocated to each member for carrying out development schemes.

TEACHERS: Subject specialists have pledged to launch a drive for getting promotions of this teaching cadre.

The annual meeting of Sindh Subject Specialists Association was held here on Tuesday. District presidents, secretaries of the association attended the meeting.

President of the association Gul Hassan Mirjat said that subject specialists were neglected in promotions for the last 12 years, hence his organisation had decided to launch a protest drive.

He also demanded promotion of subject specialists in grade 18 and 19 and their posting as principals at Higher Secondary Schools. He demanded teaching allowance, move over and selection grades for their cadre.

Later, elections of Subject Specialists Association, Dadu district, were held. Mohammad Sharif Arain was elected district president, Rukhsana Shaikh vice president, Ghulam Mustafa Panhwar secretary, Mohammad Hussain Leghari treasure, Maqsood Ahmed Rahujo information secretary and Zulfiqar Manganhar, office secretary.
