KARACHI, Jan 4: Top seeds Jalil Khan, Yasir Khan and Nasir Mushtaq had a smooth sailing over their opponents to reach men’s singles pre quarter-finals in the Sindh ranking tennis championship at Southend Club on Sunday.

Top seed Jalil edged past Asim Khan 6-3, 6-2 to set up a meeting with Abbas Raza who drubbed Bilal Sharif 6-0, 6-0. Third seed Yasir carved out a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Omer Usman while fourth seed Nasir got the better of Noufal bin Veqar 6-0, 6-1.

Second seed Nomi Qamar

has already made it to the last 16 the other day.

According to the organisers, this is the first time in recent years that they have received encouraging response in the men’s singles which has a draw of 64.
