KARACHI, Jan 3: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has floated a tender for the purchase of 100,000 bales of raw clean cotton from 2008-09 crop for export purposes.

A TCP official said here on Saturday that cotton bales should be packed in export worthy packing. The tender will be opened on Jan 17 at the TCP head office.

The TCP has, so far, contracted for 543,200 bales of lint cotton through its 13 centres across Pakistan to stabilise prices and ensure a fair price to growers. The TCP is contracting for lint cotton at Rs3,202 per maund (37.324 kgs) from ginners on the directives of the federal government to stabilise the market and ensure a fair return to growers.—APP
