LAHORE, May 12: Four-year-old bay filly, Gambling Girl, claimed the feature event of the Lahore Gymkhana races, with a superb victory at the Racecourse Sunday.

Admirably steered by jockey M. Asif II, the three to one chance Gambling Girl defeated the odds-on favourite chestnut Better Case by three-and-three quarters of a length.

Great Grandy and bay colt Sarfrosh completed the frame among only six runners. This was the filly’s maiden win in this sixth and last race of the day.

Gambling Girl’s victory gave jockey M. Asif II and trainer Razzak a fine double each when earlier their combination won the fourth race through the grey colt Al Jarrar.

The four to one third favourite Al Jarrar led from start to an easy finish. He beat fancied bay colt, The Conqueror, with Shahid Rehman, astride by one-and-a- half lengths.

Chestnut colt Red Ransom completed a hat-trick of victories by winning the fifth and feature event by a short margin of neck from Blu’s Wendy. Red Ransom had earlier to his credit two consecutive victories. This was the third in-a-row Sunday.

Riding boy A. Aziz rode Red Ransom to complete his double. He had earlier won on long shot, Afnan, in the second race.

Raja Sher Mohammed Khan’s co-favourite bay filly, Special Dream, materialised owner’s dream by storming home to emerge victorious in the opener.
