KOHAT: Rockets hit Kohat cantt, 7 held

KOHAT, Dec 17: Security forces arrested seven suspects following three rocket attacks at sensitive places in the Cantonment area in the small hours of Wednesday.

One rocket exploded in the army's STC ground, the second in the mosque of the Federal Government Public School and the third in a kitchen of the Combined Military Hospital. However, no damage to property or human loss was caused in the attacks, police said.

The bomb disposal squad cleared the areas and the school was opened as usual for classes.

Later the police carried out search operation in the surrounding areas of the Cantonment and arrested the suspects including six Afghan refugees. The police have registered cases against the accused.

33 HELD: The police claimed to have arrested 33 criminals including four notorious robbers during an operation in Naway Kalay area on Hangu road on Wednesday.

The district police officer had directed the Cantonment police to arrest the robbers who had looted Rs20,000 from a citizen. However, the police recovered Rs28,000 from the accused besides a shotgun, a pistol and 25 bullets.

Later, the police claimed seizure of seven Kalashnikovs, eight rifles, six shotguns, ten pistols, 300 cartridges and six kilograms of hashish.

The accused were identified as Jalat Khan, Sayad Khan (residents of Ublan Afghan refugee camp), Shehzad and Tanveer alias Naveedo.
