RAWALPINDI, Dec 14: A woman was shot dead by her brother in her husband’s home over a family feud in Chaklala on Sunday, police said.

Sher Bano, a mother of five, was shot and injured by her brother, Abdul Ghani, in her house on Saturday afternoon. The critically injured woman was shifted to the hospital where she died in the wee hours of Sunday.

Police said Sher Bano had been divorced by her husband Zahir Akbar Shah, but was still staying with him at his house.

On Saturday Zahid called her brother and asked him to take her to his home as he had divorced her and there was no reason for her to stay with him.

Zahid Shah, the brother of the woman, came to her house and called her into the kitchen where he shot and injured her.

Police said the killer had been arrested and a murder case was registered against him.

Meanwhile, bomb disposal experts and police examined a suspicious object discovered at the toilet of a mosque along Murree Road on Sunday, police said.

A worshiper discovered a suspicious device lying in the toilet of Masjid Saddique-i-Akbar located near Shamasabad and informed the local police.

The mosque was evacuated and the bomb disposal experts examined the object, which had wires connected with ball-bearing.

After examining it they declared the device to be a hoax.
