Published December 3, 2008

KARACHI, Dec 2: The body of a 38-year-old man, chopped into seven pieces and stuffed in a box, was found in a Gharibabad flat on Tuesday.

The police said the man was believed to have been killed by his wife, who had disappeared.

The victim, identified as Haji Khalid, was a junk dealer and resident of Site. He had gone missing on Nov 20 and a case (858/2008) of his kidnapping was registered with the Site police on the complaint of the victim’s younger brother, Adnan.

The police said an unknown caller informed the victim’s brother about the body in the flat. They said the victim was secretly living with his first wife and two children in the rented flat and his second wife and other family members knew nothing about his first marriage.

The police suspected that his first wife was behind the murder as the victim had recently sold a flat for Rs1.2 million. They said no case was registered till late.
