HYDERABAD, Nov 24: Speakers at a seminar at a local hotel on Sunday rejected the recommendations of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) and demanded immediate removal of its chairman and members.

The seminar was organised by Sunni Tehrik. Speaking on the occasion, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan chief Dr Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair said that the recommendations of the CII about marriage and divorce were a violation of Islamic laws.

He said that the country was in the grip of internal and external conspiracies and the CII by its un-Islamic recommendations had created more religious problems.

He said Nizam-e-Mustafa (PBUH) which was introduced 1400 years ago can neither be changed by any individual or government.

Sunni Tehrik leader Mohammad Khalid Qadri said that the chairman and the members of CII appeared to be ignorant of Islamic injunctions.

He demanded that removal of what he called remnants of the dictatorship and said that the CII had not submitted even one single recommendation according to Quran and Sunnat during the last 18 months.

He wondered at whose instigation, the council had formulated un-Islamic recommendations. He endorsed the opinion of Senator Raza Rabbani that no law which was in conflict with Quran and Sunnah will be passed.

Qari Suleman Awan, Khalid Hassan Atari, Aneesur Rehman Siddiqui and others also spoke on the occasion.

The seminar adopted several resolutions demanding the arrest of the murderers of Ahl-i-Sunnah leaders in Karachi, reinstatement of deposed chief justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and other judges, cut in the prices of CNG and non-commercial gas and transport fares.

It demanded that the amendments regarding death sentences should be made strictly in accordance with the Quranic injunctions.
